Emergency services responded in large numbers to an incident near the Queenscliff boat ramp on Wednesday, July 31st.
A 66-year-old man from Hughesdale was found in distress near the ex-HMAS Canberra diving site near Ocean Grove just before 9:30 AM.
The man was pulled from the water unresponsive by three other divers, who performed CPR and issued a MAYDAY call.
He was then transported to the Queenscliff boat ramp by a police boat.
Police reported that paramedics at the scene were unable to revive the man, despite administering shocks with an AED.
A report will now be prepared for the coroner.
