Detectives from the Geelong Crime Investigation Unit have arrested four individuals following the seizure of over $400,000 worth of illicit tobacco in Geelong and Corio.

On Wednesday, 18 September, police executed six search warrants at various locations including shops on Kosciusko and Detroit Avenue in Corio, Separation Street in Bell Park, Peter Street in Grovedale, Wilsons Road in Whittington, and Church Street in Herne Hill. These locations were suspected of selling illegal tobacco, with one shop previously being the target of an attempted arson in 2023.

During the operation, authorities confiscated approximately 323,120 sticks of illicit tobacco, 23,968 vapes, 18.5 kg of loose tobacco, and $13,000 in cash.

The arrested individuals include: • A 50-year-old woman from Lara • A 58-year-old woman from Corio • A 41-year-old man from Tarneit • A 19-year-old woman from Hoppers Crossing
