Police have arrested a 13-year-old girl in connection with a suspicious fire that broke out at a Corio school in the early hours of Tuesday, October 8.

Authorities believe the fire began around 12:15 am at the school located on Hendy Street.

Emergency crews arrived swiftly, taking the young girl from Bell Post Hill into custody.

She was interviewed and later released, pending a summons.

The fire caused extensive damage to part of the school, and a crime scene has been set up.
