A man has been arrested after leading police on a chase in a stolen truck today.

Around 8 am, officers were alerted to a truck driving erratically in the St Albans Park area.

Witnesses reported that the driver narrowly missed civilians while driving dangerously through the area.

Police pursued the allegedly stolen white truck as it traveled through Thomson, Newcomb, Leopold, and Moolap, with the driver repeatedly entering the wrong side of the road.

Attempts to intercept the vehicle on Barwon Heads Road, Thomson, were unsuccessful.

The driver continued to drive recklessly until stop sticks were successfully deployed twice by police, on Boundary Road in Newcomb and Portarlington Road.

The truck collided with multiple parked cars, causing significant damage, including to an unmarked police vehicle, before it finally came to a stop.

With the assistance of Air Wing, officers swiftly arrested the driver.

No one was injured during the incident.

A 28-year-old man from Mount Martha is currently assisting police with their inquiries.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the white truck driving or who has been affected by this vehicle to come forward.

Witnesses or those with dashcam footage are urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
