Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are seeking public assistance following the discovery of an injured woman in Belmont early this morning.
Emergency services were alerted around 1 a.m. to the intersection of Barrabool Road and Riverview Terrace, where a passerby had found the woman with serious injuries. She was rushed to the hospital and has since undergone surgery.
Authorities have learned that the woman was seen hitchhiking along Barrabool Road shortly before being discovered. Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit have joined the inquiry to help determine how she sustained her injuries.
The circumstances leading to her condition remain unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
